Sled dog activities are among a variety of options for people heading to Switzerland for a winter holiday, it has been asserted.
The country’s tourism authority has discussed the range of sports and interests the nation caters for and particularly highlighted pastimes for those who may be bored with skiing.
Representative for the body Julie Melet said tobogganing, horse sleighing and paragliding could all be included on a vacationer’s itinerary, adding hot air ballooning could also be a consideration.
She mentioned winter hiking trails, which could be the perfect opportunity to strap on a dog harness and enjoy a bracing ramble.
Commenting on the appeal of the central European nation, Ms Melet said: "There is a long lasting tradition of Britons visiting Switzerland – after all they are the ones who introduced winter sports … [to the country] in 1864."
Her remarks follow a recent announcement by Swiss International Airlines, which is launching a winter service from Manchester to Geneva.
The flights are targeted at those heading away to destinations such as Chamonix and Chatel – which could include those who follow Ms Melet’s recommendation and enjoy sled dog activities.
