A dog lifejacket could be an essential piece of kit for canine owners looking to follow in the footsteps of one plucky animal.
US animal Richocet has hit the headlines for his surfing antics, which recently lead to a charity donation, according to the Canadian Press.
The animal is the companion of Patrick Ivison, a 15-year-old who was left quadriplegic after a car accident.
A recent trip to the Surf City Surf Dog Contest (SCSDC) saw the pair raise $8,200 (£5,000), which is to be ploughed into Ivison’s therapy and medical bills.
This was $1,200 more than the buddies anticipated, something Richocet’s owner Judy Fridono is especially proud of.
She told the news source: "It’s like she was born to surf with him. She just seems to know what to do and where to stand."
Other canines which competed at the SCSDC include Bobby Gorgeous, Kai and Buddy, with each sporting the latest safety equipment – such as dog lifejackets.
