Dressing a canine in a dog life jacket and going for a dip can be a great way to help them with certain medical conditions, it has been claimed.
Across the UK, Australia, Canada and America there has been a rise in popularity for water therapy for dogs, explained Inventor Spot.
Veterinarians often recommend the treatment for animals that have undergone an operation, or those with muscular problems.
However, the website pointed out that it can be great fun for all canines.
Not all of the animals that partake in the activity will need a dog life jacket – but it can be a suitable option for those that are not strong swimmers.
Likewise, ‘doggles’ can be placed over the creature’s eyes to stop splashing.
"Swimming gives you a new way to bond with your pets – teach him a new skill, play new games with water toys and maybe meeting some new dog friends," commented the online resource.
The company Dog Paddle says swimming therapy can be especially beneficial to animals that have suffered from arthritis, hip and elbow dysplasia, orthopaedic surgery, stroke or paralysis.
