The man charged with keeping order at the 2010 Yukon Quest (YQ) sled dog race has stated it is an honour to be involved in the event.
Hans Oettli has been selected for the role of marshal at the event, which takes place in February.
After arriving in the town three decades ago, the sled dog enthusiast has since been involved in a number of the races and owns a number of Malamutes.
Executive director of the YQ International Association in Canada Wendy Morrison said the official will bring a "calm presence" to proceedings.
Mr Oettli added: "Every year I enjoy being part of this great event.
"[I] look forward to working with all the people that volunteer a great deal of their time to this race."
He has previously worked as an event judge and will be on hand to ensure the competitors play by the rules.
Earlier this year, YQ was shortlisted at the National Awards for Tourism Excellence in Canada.
