A Yukon Quest official has decided to resign her position in order to spend more time with her sled dogs, it has been reported.
Director of the event’s White Horse office Wendy Morrison will leave the organisation at the end of this year’s race, which kicks off on February 6th 2010 in Fairbanks, according to Associated Press.
She has been with the group for four years and apparently wants to spend more time focusing on personal pursuits such as training her own canines.
The board of directors are set to move quickly to appoint another person to the role, in order to ensure they have a full year’s preparation for the 2011 race.
Earlier this month, officials announced they were still looking to raise ten per cent of the race’s expenses.
However, they vowed the purse would not change, which may buoy mushers such as Lance Mackey and Ken Anderson, who are set to battle it out on the 1,000-mile course next month.
