Canicross competitors reminded of weekend meetings

February 19th, 2010

Canicross competitors are set to pack up their dog harnesses and meet for two races this weekend (February 21st and 22nd 2010).

At the Olivers Battery Recreation Site in Winchester tomorrow, Denise Croucher is holding a race that kicks off at 10:30 GMT, where beginners are welcome to join in.

Interested parties should contact Ms Croucher on her mobile phone, when she will also be able to offer information on monthly runs from the Moors Valley Country Park.

Meanwhile, an event is also being held in the Forest of Dean on Sunday, starting at Soudley Ponds at 10:00.

Beginners are also welcome at the event and should contact Nicky if they require any kit – which could include dog harnesses and dog leads.

After the race, competitors are planning to meet in a cafe which is adjacent to the Heritage Museum.

Canicross is a growing sport in the UK which sees dogs and people take part in cross country runs at the same time.
