We have now got the sun back, and that is always a great feeling after not seeing it for nearly three months!
It is a strange winter, and we do feel the weather changes but we have had snow enough here for sledding since November, but the race “Troms Quest” that was meant to be on last weekend had to cancel because of too little snow!!
The dogs have now done about 850 km in January, and that is nearly the aim – we hoped for 1000km! The team look good and there has not been many injuries.
This week we have had a chiropractor from England to visit. Alan Craft www.eynshamchiro.co.uk was here last year as well and we believe that what he did to them last year helped them to preform better. He has gone through all the racing dogs and this is to prevent any stiffness and injuries. They respond well, and as all other top-trained athletes, we believe this is good for them!
Now this Sunday we get a group from Voyage Concepts that will do a 5 day trip with us. They will have a dog team of five each, and they will cover 180km in those days- the same as Arne does in one day on Finnmarksløpet! So we have been busy getting everything ready for his expedition, and that is quite a lot! 10 sleds with all lines and bag etc, dog food and harnesses, all the clothes for our guests, sleeping bags and food….
We hope now for a bit warmer temperatures, because now at the moment it is -18 and strong wind so real temp is close to -40! Welcome to the artic!!
Happy trails
