A new online resource has been launched to help canicross competitors find interesting and challenging routes.

Simon Lamen from the Canicross Trailrunners organisation has created a group on the Map My Run website which allows users to see a range of courses across the UK.

He remarked: "Please note that care must be taken on all routes as some cross roads and may also run by the side of the road, but they are primarily off road, on trails, tracks and public footpaths."

He urged those who take advantage of the guides to show respect to other path users and add their own content for the good of other canicross enthusiasts.

Last month, Mr Lamen told the Wiltshire Gazette and Herald that those who take part in the growing sport need to love dogs and be indifferent to mud.

He underlined how taking part in events can have mutual exercise benefits for human and animal.
