Time is running out for sled dog fans to bid on a Yukon Quest auction which could see them hand out a special dog harness prize.

Among the items going under the hammer are collectors’ packages, which include posters and maps, and dog tags and bibs from famous mushers such as Lance Mackey.

The lucky bidder on Item 12 will win the chance to present the Golden Harness Award at the Finish Banquet, which is taking place on Saturday (February 20th 2010).

Other items on offer include an original artwork from this year’s race, painted by Halin De Repentigny, and official trail markers signed by previous year’s winners.

Much of the memorabilia has been collected from this year’s race, which concluded yesterday (February 16th 2010) after ten closely-contested days.

Some 24 mushers competed in the race, which was won by veteran Hans Gatt in nine days and 26 minutes, which broke the previous race record by almost a day (23 hours).
