Mushing fans planning to attend the Iditarod Restart have been advised to use a shuttle bus service.
The event takes place in Willow Lake on Sunday (March 7th 2010), one day and 46 miles from the official start in Anchorage.
Officials want to eliminate traffic congestion and have therefore requested supporters leave their cars at home and take advantage of the bus service, which will be run by volunteers at 08:00 local time.
Fans will convene at the Willow Community Centre, where the buses will terminate.
Mushing supporters are expected to head to the event in their droves to catch a glimpse of sled dog stars such as Lance Mackey, Hugh Neff and Jeff King.
There are 71 teams in all taking part in this year’s Last Great Race, which will see mushers tackle more than 1,000 miles of snow and ice within ten to 14 days.
The race concludes in Nome, where the likes of Neff and Mackey are expected to battle it out with Yukon Quest winner Hans Gatt for the title this year.
