Members of Affiliated British Sleddog Activities (ABSA) are set to enjoy two days of dog scooter races and canicross events.

The annual Fun Weekend kicks off tomorrow (May 1st 2010) at Thruxton in Hampshire, where there will also be scurry competitions, a specialty dog show and push bike contests.

Proceedings begin at 13:00 BST, but those travelling a long distance to the meeting have been offered the chance to camp at the venue overnight.

Although the events are restricted to those who took part in ABSA’s 2009-10 season, spectators are welcome to attend.

The meeting is not the only chance for canicross competitors to get out their dog harnesses and enjoy a race this weekend.

Members of the Canicross Trailrunners (CT) are set to take part in the Wiggle Thunder 10km race.

CT officials have highlighted how the event is normally very well run, with good marshalling and a clearly signposted course.
