The Alaskan Malamute Club of the United Kingdom (AMCUK) has highlighted the country’s best sled dogs and bitches.

Working Malamute of the Year for the 2009-10 season went to Arcticbreeze Blizzard of Oz in the dog category and Arcticbreeze Evening Mist in the bitch stakes.

Shepherdsway Black Beauty for Ataneq, owned by Snowpaw Store’s Vikki Hodgson, came fourth in the bitch category.

Her dog Achak Come Fly With Me for Ataneq was sixth in the male list.

Other high-scoring dogs included Icewolf’s Star Of America, Shepherdsway Black Label of Casiat and Crystalcreek’s Snowstorm.

Polarpaws Sensena and Casiat Isle Of View ranked highly in the bitch list.

Tom Wheeler was named Rookie of the Year (ROTY), with John Binding named the runner up.

Previous ROTY winners have included Adam Johnson and Snowpaw Store’s Vikki Hodgson.

AMCUK was formed in 1964 and holds two shows per year – a spring Open Show and Championship Show in the autumn.
