Sled dogs go to ‘loving homes’

June 28th, 2010

A quintet of stray sled dogs who were rescued by an animal lover have found suitable new homes.

Jenn Mulrooney from Alberta, Canada has been working with staff at an animal rescue centre to help find and care for abandoned canines in the north-western territories of the country, reports the Edmonton Sun.

She was moved to act after learning there were many abandoned and stray canines wandering in the wilds of the region, where temperatures can go as low as minus 50 degrees C.

Ms Mulrooney recalled finding the sled dogs chained to a pole, explaining that they were unable to fend for themselves.

"I wanted to make a difference," she remarked.

Over in the UK, an animal charity has been attempting to find a home for a Siberian husky.

Daemon is currently living with the Scottish SPCA, which has been acclimatising the one-year-old to the outdoors and building his confidence.ADNFCR-2611-ID-19861372-ADNFCR
