The Siberian Husky Club of Great Britain (SHCGB) has invited its members to attend an upcoming health event.
A British Veterinary Association Eye Clinic and research day is being held for owners of working dogs on September 25th 2010.
Interested parties should contact the SHCGB’s Cathy Croman to book a place at the session, which is taking place in Solihull.
The wellbeing of huskies is a big part of the remit of the SHCGB, alongside its races and shows.
Earlier this year, it took part in a research project to identify a genetic mutation responsible for hereditary cataract in northern breeds.
Held by the Animal Health Trust, the free tests involved giving a DNA sample, with funding coming from the Kennel Club and the Siberian Husky Club of America.
The eye clinic comes weeks before the SHCGB’s Open Show, which is due to kick off at Horspath Village Hall in Cowley, Oxfordshire on September 12th 2010.
