Canicross competitors planning to take part in a race in Surrey later this year have been warned that it is a gruelling event.
According to the organisers of WildMan meeting, which is taking place on November 20th 2010, the route is “not for the faint-hearted” due to its sandy course.
Entrants can choose between six, ten or 16km trails, which run through epic tree-lined forests in and around Hankley Common.
“The run … will encompass steep inclines … and will be a series of laps depending on your chosen distance,” race officials remarked.
They added that the course will be truly energy-sapping as the sand will make running very difficult.
Canicross competitors planning to run will need to pay a £22 entrance fee, with higher prices for the duathlon or a relay option.
It is a busy few months for the Canicross Trailrunners – members are also due to take part in the Canine Aquathon in Hampshire next month.
Described as a “truly unique event”, it involves a mixture of running and swimming alongside a dog.
