Canicross competitors have been invited to bring their dog harnesses to a special Christmas race this year.
Members of the Canicross Trailrunners (CT) are able to submit applications to attend the Forest of Dean Athletic Club's festive-themed event on December 19th 2010.
Organisers said that a run through the "glorious woodland" will be a great way to spend time in the run-up to the big day. They have not yet confirmed the distance of the race, but believe it will be between 5 and 10 kilometres.
The event will round off a busy year of canicross racing for members of the group – later this month, hardy competitors will tackle the Canine Aquathon in Hampshire.
People taking part must negotiate a gruelling swim and run with their canine companion during the race.
Meanwhile, November 6th 2010 sees the Pine Ridge 10km take place in Surrey, before the challenging Humanrace kicks off on Hankley Common two weeks later.
The CT counts soldiers, teachers and mushers among its current members.
