Before any musher attempts the Iditarod or the Yukon Quest, they have to run shorter qualifying races. The Willow Jr 100 is for those under 18 years of age who are not allowed in the qualifying races.

This race gives teens a chance to hone their dog mushing skills and test their abilities. Racing up the Talkeetna Mountains to Grampa Joe's halfway point, spending the night and then blasting back down in the morning gives them a taste of what longer races are all about.

An Iditarod Rookie Journey.

Husky Productions (Pretty Sled Dogs) has produced its second DVD about what it takes to run the Iditarod sled dog race. This time, Sven Haltmann takes you on his journey to reach the start and go all the way to Nome, the finish.

With a good attitude and happy Alaskan Huskies, Sven shows us all the work that happens before the race. The qualifying races, the training races, the drop bag preparation, and of course, the dogs. No one goes anywhere without the dogs.

Sven's commentary throughout the video gives insight to beginners and veterans alike.

The 2008 Alaska Sweepstakes marked the centennial run of the first sled dog race in Alaska. Before the Iditarod, before the Yukon Quest,before any of the mid distance races, there was the All Alaska Sweepstakes.

Born in the frontier town of Nome, Alaska in 1908, the race allowed a town full of mushers, gold miners and gamblers a way to amuse themselves thru the long, cold, dark winter.

The race from to Nome to Candle and back covers some of the most desolate but beautiful country Alaska has to offer. Fortunes were won and lost in the early days of this race. The 2008 race was marked by an unprecedented 100 thousand dollar winner take all purse. Some of the sport's best drivers entered, along with a few hardy Nome souls, to run the trails and relive the adventures. They all felt some connection to history and the spirits of the race.

Husky Productions presents a video journal of that week.

From behind the scenes, to the start, finish, checkpoints, interviews and of course, the awards banquet viewers will get a real feel of what it was like to be in Nome during this incredible time.

Supplemented by photographs from master photographer, Jan DeNapoli and original music by Kyf Brewer and Jim Parkinson, we're sure this feature length movie will enchant your spirit.

The Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race has been called the last great race.

Join musher Karen Ramstead and her North Wapiti team of pure bred Siberian Huskies as they train for and enter the 2005 Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race.

Three time Emmy winner (camera operation) Donna Quante, has taken her love of the Siberian Husky, a keen interest in the Iditarod and her TV knowledge to make a movie the whole family can enjoy. (Some dog oriented language may not be appropriate for all children.)

Original music by Kyf Brewer completes the experience. The title song explains the race, while "The Husky's Code" is told from the dogs point of view. It may bring a tear to your eye.
